mIGHTYbOOTh (very Sian & Cameron-esque)..

Essentially, the wedding is a big celebration, a party, yes?  Of course there are a lot of ins, a lot of outs, a lot of what-have-you’s, but when you dissect the body of a wedding, all the pretty jewels, the Christian Louboutin shoes, the Armani tie, the hair, the makeup – even going deeper within the flesh - all the ’fluff’ is stripped away, leaving the heart.  The heart of the wedding is a VERY special thing..

No two hearts are the same, & it’s from the heart, the celebration comes..  This is what I love about my job – I get to see the heart of the wedding every time..  This is what I love about mIGHTYbOOTh - I get to see the party, feel the party, feel the heart beating!

Cameron & Sian’s wedding is a perfect example of this..  One of my most favourite of all things to do, is to see people just being themselves..

March 2, 2010 - 3:10 pm Cameron - Hey! That's me! :P Pure gold, those shots always bring a smile to my face. They say a picture paints a thousand words - those images have definitely got some good stories behind them! I know I've already said this a few (million) times already, but thankyou both for such awesome photos!

March 2, 2010 - 2:06 pm Jono - Hey! That's AWESOME! My favourite is cluttered shot 5th photo down in the top-right corner, the guy with the glasses holding the number 7. He's like "yes... this number 7 is allllllll mine, eeexxcelleent".

March 2, 2010 - 1:43 pm bec - Hey! That's Lauren a girl I went to school with!

March 2, 2010 - 1:10 pm Pete - Hey! That's Leigh from Project Runway Australia! ^_^

sian & cameron

And so 39 days passed with no additional blogation..  A journey of self discovery you might say.. I ventured far & wide, looking for answers..  answers to questions..  the questions that drive us…  “What is the matrix?”, & “How do I stop these pesky grasshoppers from eating my grape vine?” ”

I journeyed forth for many days to New Zealand on a mountain biking adventure with 2 mates in a Winnebago style tour bus.. I discovered many new smells & got a good look at my tibia (shin bone)..  But that’s another story soon to be told..

Oh & I almost forgot..  Also have been shooting weddings because that is what I do..      Thus, I give you the wedding of Sian & Cameron.  We quite like Sian & Cameron, they are very relaxing people to be around.   For example, we turned up to the girls’ room where they were getting ready expecting the usual mad rush of crazyiness, only to see Sian & her bridesmaids with champagne in hand, music cranked, sitting around playing UNO..  The atmosphere was very chilled (& I don’t mean cold).

Their wedding was at the Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast.  The Chapel there is pretty awesome..  My most favourite ever part of every wedding is that very moment when groom sees bride as she approaches the aisle.  It’s a killer!  Sian enters the chapel..  Cameron sees his lady & cannot hold back the tears.. He is beside himself, blinded by her beauty..  so now there are 2 Camerons.. Seriously, it takes gumption for a man to show real & raw emotion in front of a crowd..   One word..  RESPEC

We had a great time at this wedding..  I have the bestest ever job ever in the whole world…   ever..

ps..  Sian & Cameron are awesome

ring bearers.. 2 rings to rule them all..

x-men

pps..  Sian & Cameron’s mIGHTYbOOTh Greatest Hits comin’ atcha soonies  :)

POP art wedding darling! (one show only)..

I have been to a lot of weddings..  & if there’s one piece of advice I can give to anyone planning their own wedding, it is this..   Try your very best to have the wedding that YOU want.

This is exactly what Erin & Robert did.

E&R – “We want something simple & creative, we love art, we love books, we want to keep things intimate, we want a relaxed atmosphere,  & we love photography”.  So..  everything they did in the planning reflected these goals.

Ceremony & cocktail reception at GoMA, gift registry at a bookstore, they invited close friends & relatives, & decorated the deck at GoMA with funky fixtures & atmospheric lighting.  The entire day just so them.  We loved every second of it!

Robert & Erin are both keen photographers too, so yes our pre-wedding meetings went for hours talking about art, photography & camera gear, travel etc..  (and eventually the wedding)   :) It was great..  & did I mention they LOVE art..

And of course, on the wedding day, Robert could not keep his eyes off Erin, distracted only momentarily by his other love..  his Canon 5D mkII ..

SPACE INVADERS.. (kind of..)

I was lucky enough to take some time off over Christmas..  So what does a photographer do with time off ?  Go out in the middle of the night with some friends & take some photos of course!  I can’t help it..  I am addicted..   It’s who I am..  But I also call myself a photographer because photography is what I like do..

I also like music, mountain biking, & going to the movies..  & I really like dark chocolate TimTams.. & Guinness

So yes, Got a call from friends Juanita & Denise (excellento photographers), proposing a dash-for-cash overnighter at the beach for some late night, pitch-black, no moon photography.  *insert high fives & air punches*  Tripods + candles + torch + LEDs + top hats + cloak of invisibilty + broomstick + glowsticks + red wine = mission accomplished !

It was seriously great to hang out with friends & play around like camera nerds..  I would have liked a little ambient moonlight kicker as well but hey, red wine & laughter cures all..  Thanks Juanita & Denise, you guys are RAD !    :D

Catherine & Dave’s excellent adventure..

So Catherine & Dave were to be married on the Gold Coast at Burleigh Beach.  Very nice yes, & we arrived to see a busy Dave & some trusty family members holding a spot in the very public park for their ceremony.

And so begins the adventures..  Todd: “So Dave, introduce us to your Groomsmen.”  Dave: “Ahh, well, one is driving around the Gold Coast looking for his suit trousers – he’s lost them, another is flying in from the U.K. & he has phoned to advise that his plane has just landed in Brisbane!”   Todd: “Say Dave, aren’t you getting married in 2 hours?”  Dave: *smiles* “I hope so, but Taco’s here – 1 out of 3 ain’t bad…”  Todd: “Hey Taco, pleased to meet you”.  Taco: “Likewise.”  *smiles all round as Taco & Todd shake hands*..

So amidst the Kaos (yes with a ‘K’ – that’s how I roll), I was bracing myself for some very stressful situations – perhaps some tears, mild breakdowns, some silent treatment, & stamping of feet.  But no.  None of this.  It was obvious that C&D had not planned for this to happen, but their collective response was to adjust, adapt, laugh about the craziness surrounding them & move on.  It was soooo refreshing to see.

Of course, the day was spectacular – great weather, great atmosphere, awesome people, the beach, bikini babes, bare foot bowls, lots of laughs..  Another great day at the ‘office’ for us.

I am also pleased to report that the suit trousers were eventually found (in the bottom of the suit bag), & mr U.K. actually made it to the ceremony on time (just).
